JMA is pleased to have the AHLA Foundation, the charity arm of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, as a charity partner. The foundation exists to inspire, support, and elevate all who work in the hospitality industry.

The AHLA Foundation helps hoteliers, vendors, and educators in the industry invest in people, so they stay and grow in the industry long-term, with hundreds of career paths available. The foundation has reinvested over $40 million back into the hospitality industry by way of providing support in recruitment, retention, development, and advancement efforts.

Take a look at some of AHLA Foundation’s accomplishments in the past year:

  • Over one million dollars in college scholarships to students studying in 2 or 4-year hospitality degree programs.
  • Travel scholarships to bring 60 students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to the major industry conferences.
  • Partnering with community-based organizations through their Empowering Youth Program to introduce 500 opportunity youth to the industry.
  • Enrolling 500 apprentices in three different career training tracks for certification with the Department of Labor, across 80 employers – their largest year of growth in the Apprenticeship Program to date.
  • Surpassing their goal of one million completed anti-trafficking trainings by hotel employees through their No Room for Trafficking (NRFT) program, putting them at 1.2 million and counting.
  • Hosting the No Room for Trafficking Summit to unify and educate industry leaders and to honor the first recipients of the NRFT Survivor Fund Grant Program and awarding a total of $500k to survivor-supporting organizations.

Under the leadership of President and CEO, Chip Rogers, AHLA was included in the listing of “100 Associations That Will Save the World” by ASAE, was honored with the White House “Presidential Award for its Pledge to America’s Workers” and was recognized with the PR Week Purpose Awards in 2020.
